Aman Venugopal (Batch of 2015-2020) has started a new position as an Associate at Rahul Chaudhry & Partners. Rahul Chaudhry and Partners (earlier known as Lall, Lahiri and Salhotra) is a firm that has been a prominent name in the Intellectual Property space since 1983. It has an excellent client base and a brilliant practice, a factor which made it one of sir’s top picks.
He was exposed to Intellectual Property matters in his previous job under Justice Manmohan in the Delhi High Court. His experience under the judge was quite enriching as it gave him exposure to various subjects, showed the side of courts which people seldom see and helped him evolve a specific area of interest in which he decided to specialise further and pursue a career.
A piece of advice that he shared for people who want to transition fields completely and start a career in Intellectual Property, “is to develop the habit of self-studying. If someone is truly intrigued by the field and the vast array of possibilities it holds, one has to be dedicated to understand the basic jurisprudence more than anything. It is surely recommended, but not at all necessary to spend money and do specialised courses if one can just study the subject on their own. Keep a track of newsletters from the top IP firms and check out websites that provide resources for free.., it is crucial to understand the on-ground reality of the subject”.
As further advice, he suggests being self-aware and to understand and introspect what one wants to do rather than blindly following a path that you may have found appealing in college or school. He emphasised on constantly re-analysing and re-evaluating priorities and choosing a field which brings one the maximum satisfaction according to their priorities.
The Blue Pencil congratulates him and wishes him the best for his future endeavours!
