Everyone is coming back to college real soon and amidst the chaos of what to bring and what not to bring, a checklist can do wonders. Now of course, while our beloved institution has, in the prospectus given us a list of what seem to be the basic essential items one should bring, it does forget to mention some other requisites on which not just our stay but rather our survival in this college depends. So to brush up on our rusted memory, having stayed in the comforts of our homes too long, we present to a small list of must haves for AIL :
1) A rope (to hang your stress or dry clothes)
2) Extension cord (it will help you to discover new positions to see your device, while destroying your back)
3) Power bank ( When the light goes off for the hostel for a long time on those rare occasions, we see the entire hostel population rushing to the library to put their phones on charge -perhaps the only time the library is full of students- a power bank definitely comes in handy in those moments)
4) Dessert cooler to look at and miss comforts of AC at home & feel miserable in sultry Chandigarh summers
5) Notebook & pens (absolutely optional but also, at least looking at them might remind us to study because exams are offline this semester)
6) Jhaadu and pochha (to occasionally clean your room and mostly fight with your roommate over whose turn it is)
7) Microwave safe bowl (remember in the end Maggie always saves the day)
8) Bug Repellants (rat poison, mouse trap, Lakshman rekha ; honestly you never have enough)
9) Laundry bag (which you’ll have to buy new every year)
10) Black earphones (because let’s face it. No one pays attention to lectures in MPH and black is easy to hide with the blazers)
11) Safety pins(to live your Nancy Drew dream and try lock picking as you lose your room keys for the hundredth time. Also will come handy for the first years frantically trying to secure their saree in place for the freshers.)
12) Tissues and toilet paper roll (to wipe off tears during last moment exam prep)
13) Pen drives and external hard disks ( we all know how swift and speedy our college wifi is. Let’s just depend on our trusted friends who download shows and movies for binge material and thank their heroism with a cup of cold coffee for every transfer)
14) Lap desk ( those who basically live on their laptop screens, do your legs a favour and invest in a lap desk)
And finally, let’s bring all the pent up longing for our friends and those cute places we used to hang out at and make the most of the time we have left of a college life.
