Bharat’s Warriors faced Gen Nutties on an eventful third day of the Gentlemen’s Cup- 2017. Being the second match for both the teams, it was all to play for as the players hit the ground running.
The first half momentum seemed to be with the Warriors as they were the first ones to make the chances count, with Aridaman Singh getting on the end of a pass and drilling a shot past the keeper and into the left side of the goal. The half-time score read 1-0.
Gen Nutties kept pressing for the equalizer in the second half, which came through a deflected shot by Rakesh Kumar, leaving the keeper with no chance. What followed was a passage of play with both teams fighting to take the lead once again as the temper grew on the pitch. Between two red cards given to Rakesh Kumar (Gen Nutties) and Akshay Rathour (Warriors), a through ball was finished with composure by Akshay to hand the Warriors a 2-1 lead.
Towards the final quarter of the game, as it seemed that the Warriors might have the first win under their belt, Ishaan Saran intercepted a ball going into the hands of the keeper and headed it over him for an equalizer. This ended up being the final twist in the encounter as both the teams shared the points, deservedly so.
The table stands with S*x Bombs at 4 points, Gen Nutties at 2 points and Bharat’s Warriors at 1 point.
Tomorrow’s match will feature S*x Bombs going up against the Gen Nutties. Same place, same time !
