The fourth day of the Gentlemen’s Cup saw Gen Nutties face off against S*x Bombs, simultaneously signifying the closure of the first round as well. The significance of this match was apparent in the first few minutes as one could see the players acclimatizing to the opponent’s playing style.
However, Gen Nutties managed to establish their dominance in today’s match by scoring early on in the first half, owing to Avinash Salaria’s well placed pass to Ishaan Saran, who after skillful dribbling managed to drive the ball past the goalkeeper. The scoreboard read 1-0 at the end of the first half with Nutties in the lead.
The second round saw both teams trying their level best to turn the tide of the match indefinitely, as resplendent in both teams’ constant attacks and parries. However, Gen Nutties managed to ride on the momentum of the first half with Himmat Singh hitting a cross ball which sailed through the hands of the goalkeeper and landed firmly in the goal, giving the Nutties an edge with a score of 2-0.
At this point, S*x Bombs amped their efforts to equalize the score, and their efforts paid off with Shiraj Ranaut scoring a goal via a header on a long ball hit by Manish Chaudhary, in the middle of the second half. Following this development tensions rose on both sides, as S*x Bombs sought to score another crucial goal and Gen Nutties strived to do everything in their power to prevent the same. However, the rest of the match passed without any goal from each side, and the Nutties breathed a sigh of relief with the final score being 2-1.
