Garima Raonta (Class of 2019), has joined IP team of Khaitan and Co, one of India’s oldest and recognised full-service law firms. Her office is located in Bombay.
The recruitment process comprised two rounds of interviews with the firm’s partners. Each interview was carried out by two partners. The questions in the first round of interviews were primarily on the candidate’s CV and firm expectations. She was asked a few technical and procedural questions in the second round, along with two other partners from the firm.
According to her, she chose to pursue a profession in Intellectual Property Rights in her third year. As a result, she accomplished all IP-related internships in her final years of law school with all reputable companies and IP teams. She has previously worked as a Junior Associate with Lakshimikumaran and Sridharan, as well as with Sagar Chandra and Associate as an IP Associate.
She says, “If you are a first-generation lawyer then you have to start from small and make your way up to it.” She advices her juniors to work hard, know your interest and get internships in areas where your interest lies.
