What an exhilarating experience was the turncoat.
For this week’s Thursday Activity a Turncoat Competition was organised in the Multi-Purpose Hall on 12 October 2017. Students from all years were welcome to participate. The judges for the event were Dr. Bajirao Rajwade and Dr. Kulpreet Kaur.
Expressions of nervousness and excitement could be seen on the faces of the eager participants who were given topics ranging from ‘Success in today’s world means money’ to ‘Advertisement leads to necessity’ and ‘Should diet pills be banned’ to ‘Ragging: An offense or a welcome gesture’. Participants were given their topics just a few minutes before they got on stage and were allotted 3 minutes to speak.
The speakers evoked a range of emotions in the members of the audience. From solemness and earnestness to amusement, the house felt it all. All participants put up a great show and switched their stance very convincingly. But at the end of the day, a winner had to be picked from all the participants.
Aaryan (2nd Year) spoke on ‘Genetically designed babies: Moral or Immoral’ and bagged the first prize followed by Aafreen Chaudhary (2nd Year) who spoke on ‘Whether love marriages are better or arranged marriages’ and Kainat Singh (2nd Year) who spoke on ‘Online Shopping: Pros and Cons’.
In totality, the event was a success as the students got to hear some great speeches, learn from them and have fun at the same time.
