Like all its shows and fests, AIL ménage once again came under one roof during the annual ‘Intra-Institute Quiz’, which was organized on February 02, 2018. The Preliminary round was a multiple choice questions round which commenced at 9 o’clock in the morning. The round consisted of 50 excellent questions collectively from the field of archaeology, history, law and geography. Finally, the participants were screened down to a few for the Semi-final, which was to be conducted in the Multi-Purpose Hall at 2 o’clock in the presence of Principal Tejinder Kaur, faculty members and the handsome and beautiful scholars of the institute. The thrilled audience was curious to know which team in the Semifinals will make it to the Finale. The host of the event, Sir Ajaymeet Singh, finally, based on their marks awarded in the conducted Rounds, including the Audio-Visual Round, announced that the teams- ‘Austin’, ‘Bentham’, ‘Savigny’ and ‘Dias’ had made it to the Top 4 and resultantly, had also grabbed their seats in the Finale round.
But before the Finale started, an ‘Audience Round’ was conducted by the Quizmasters of AIL- Shashank Mishra (II Year) and Shantanu Singh (II Year), also the founders of ‘Lex Quizerables’, the quiz team of AIL. It was hilarious to see the audience going berserk with the twisted questions which had to be answered using certain clues provided in the question itself. The questions covered all the aspects- from Ramayana and Mahabharata to the landmark judgements and the tycoons in the market. Students who deduced the correct answer were given a chocolate each as their much-deserved reward! All the scholars had indeed jumped from their seats while answering. But it was a sight to behold as they all hummed along the melodious song by Mukesh Sahab, “Kya Khoob Lagti Ho!” from the movie “Dharmatma” during one of the audio-visual rounds, sparing the fact that all went quiet when the name of Hema Malini’s character was asked out of nowhere.
Concluding the Audience Round, the high time had come. One could feel the atmosphere saturated with inquisitiveness as the questions were unfolded. The MPH also filled with the melodies of Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, movie clips directed by the legendary director, Yash Raj Chopra and the photos of some renowned celebrities and celebrated cases of all times in the legal field during the Audio Visual Round.
After a tough competition, team ‘Bentham,’ consisting of Saurabh Upreti (III Year) and Ankit Yadav (III Year) grabbed the Winner’s Trophy of Intra-Institute Quiz Competition and bagged the cash award of Rs. 3000.
But it wasn’t over yet!
For the Runners-Up Trophy teams ‘Austin’ and ‘Savigny’ had to compete against each other in the ‘Sudden Death’ Round (‘tie’ breaker) wherein, the team which answered their part of the round entirely correct, unlike the opposite team, would be declared victorious. After a tough competition, finally, the team ‘Austin’ consisting of Ajeet Singh (III Year) and Omvir Singh (II Year) took over the Runner Up’s Trophy of Intra-Institute Quiz Competition with cash prize of Rs. 1500.
With felicitation ceremony this overwhelming competition came to an end. It was a perfect blend of keenness, happiness and knowledge. This great event marked the conclusion of one of this year’s Intra-Institute Competitions but has definitely led us to the conclusion that our thirst for knowledge can’t be quenched! Further, with thousands of quizzes organizers on the list, what certainly sets AIL far apart is that it tends to encourage learning in ever manner.
Hail AILians!!!
