I peer into the cool blue light
Watching a distant world unknown
People on trips, amused, laughing, and I, still as stone
Equipped with niceties, unhappy despite.
.
Scrolling further and to their party there’s an invite
Attending I won’t revel in it, clearly removed from my zone
The more I regard, the more outcast I feel, almost alone
My coevals living the fast life, all bling and glitter, inciting slight spite.
.
I must keep away, go off the grid, look at what surrounds me
People I cherish, fuzzy creatures, the lull enveloping, offering peace
Social media isn’t real, all a veneer, plainly a nebulous decree.
.
Content is oft fictitious, of the reality they’ve hidden each crease,
It entraps, reels you in until to the present you become an absentee.
I’d like to hear leaves and eagles’ calls, perhaps it’s time to leave for ancient Greece.
