Mriganka Bhakay from the 3rd year, participated in the Startup Weekend. This was the first time that such an event was organized in the city, where groups of developers, business managers, startup enthusiasts, marketing gurus, graphic artists and more pitched ideas for new startup companies, formed teams around those ideas, and worked to develop a working prototype, demo, or presentation by Sunday evening. This time around, it was the Music edition organized in collaboration with Google.
The event was organized at the Chitkara International School, Chandigarh from 11th November 2016- 14th November 2016. The first day saw an ice breaking session wherein every participant had to pitch in ideas from which few were voted upon and teams were formed. Six teams were formed here which then went head on against each other on the following days. On the Second day, the teams went out for market validation to search for target audience for their respective startups. Mriganka and her team, called the JammPacked went to the Bridge Music Academy, where they spoke to some teachers and also met some recording artists after which they filmed a video at the Elante Mall. The teams had to present their ideas to investors and mentors on the third day.
Mriganka’s team’s idea for a startup was providing a workplace for budding artists and musicians wherein they would have their own cubicles along with recording studios and photography studios. They were awarded the Second Place along with a working space for a time period of 3 months.
