The Army Institute of law organized the National Seminar 2016 on 24th September 2016, with the theme for the seminar being Virtual Realities and Emerging Inequalities. Around 300 abstracts were submitted from which around 150 were selected and the same were presented in the Seminar.
The Seminar began with the inauguration at the MPH where the participants and the students were addressed by many dignitaries that graced the college with their presence. Professor Tejinder Kaur welcomed the honorable guests and the participants to the college in the welcome address. It marked the beginning of the Seminar. The Guests of Honor, Mr. Tushar Mehta, the Additional Solicitor general of India, addressed the gathering. This was followed by a speech and the inaugural of the AILite magazine 2015-16, by Justice Mahesh Grover, Judge Punjab and Haryana High Court, and the chief guest for the Seminar.
The renowned constitutional Law Expert, Shri KTS Tulsi, Guest of Honor, chose AIL to promote research in Constitutional Law and instituted the KTS Tulsi Chair of Excellence for which both the researcher and the mentor are awarded a sum of Rs 10,000 per month and Rs 2, 50,000 respectively. Sir felicitate Ms. Pooja Chandran (4th year) and Dr.Thulasidhass for the same after which he addressed the students.
Next, Mr Pavan Duggal, Advocate Supreme Court of India, was introduced as the Keynote Speaker for the Inaugural Ceremony. An expert and authority on, Cyber Security Law and Ecommerce law, he is empaneled as a consultant to United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and The Pacific on Cyber Law and Cyber Crime.
Maj. Gen. J T Chacko MG AOC Western Command and Chairman – Army Institute of Law, then presented a memento to the venerable guests.
The session began at 11:00 at four different venues where various participants that included students and research scholars from various parts of the country presented their papers upon the following sub themes:
- Mystifying gender Boundaries
- Future of the State of Cyber Security in India
- Corporate Frauds
- Right to Access
- Black money vis a vis virtual currency
- E behavior of individuals and basic social structures
- Virtual Sovereignty
The Seminar proved to bring out brilliant results and many new ideas and viewpoints were discussed during the various technical sessions. The judges in every session ensured that every participant contributes substantially to the Seminar, so that new problems can be identified and dealt with. The Seminar saw the participation of many who enlightened the audience about aspects of cyber security in India which still need to be looked into. The event was a great success and proved to be a forum for discussing solutions for new ideas and solutions.
