In the afternoon of March 22nd, 2018, the campus of Army Institute of Law, Mohali reverberated with the most hit numbers of singers like Himesh Reshamiya, Neeti Mohan and Vijay Antony, when the Intra-Institute Dance Competition was organized in the presence of esteemed faculty and cheerful audience and our judges for the event- Mrs. Amita Sharma, Ms. Ekjyot Kaur and Ms. Chanpreet Kaur.
The competition was initiated with Solo Dance Competition, which was followed by Duet Dance Competition. With students participating from all the batches, even the excited audience had a big role to play in making the competition a huge success. The performances dripping with energy and elegance, reminded us of the lines that Leonard Cohen one penned,
“Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin,
Dance me through the panic ’til I’m gathered safely in
Lift me like an olive branch and be my homeward dove,
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love.”
When the performances were over, Subodh Kumar (Institute Prefect) was called upon the stage to perform a dance, which he was reluctant towards. But the cheers finally succeeded in taking over his bashfulness.
(The ‘parde ke peeche’ ki baat is that Adhiraj Bhandari had already planned to make the Institute Prefect dance.)
Adhiraj Bhandari soon understood what English Miss meant when she said “don’t dig a pit for others, you fall in it yourself.” He was the next person who was called surprisingly called on the stage to shake a leg, which he did most gladly!
Followed by his performance, the anchors requested the entire 5th Year to come on the stage. In a few moments, we could see audience jumping up from their seats, the Super-Seniors swaying together and weaving a beautiful memory.
Finally, the time for results arrived. The Duet Dance Competition was won by Dilisha (1st Year) & Ruhul (1st Year), while Simran Walia (4th Year) & Shivani (3rd Year) bagged the second position. The Solo Dance Competition was won by Sonu Parmar (1st Year). The winners would be facilitated on the Annual Day.
They say, “Dance is language of the soul.” AILians proved it extremely right when they came on the stage and danced together in ecstasy. All of them may not be good dancers, all of them may not have won, but all of them are winners in their own spheres… Winners of support and friendship that they possess for each other.
