“Hell is empty, and all the devils are here.” – William Shakespeare, The Tempest
The Trump of Doom has been sounded. It’s time we woke up to our dystopian reality. The following is a list of all the monsters who are out to play. Because all the world is a stage; and all the men and women are merely pawns , in this game where monsters are players and eventually, winners.
- The Orange
“Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us , that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the Tr(i)ump(h).” – Thomas Paine
Indeed. Truer words were never been spoken. The current political scenario must have Paine, one of the founding fathers of America, rolling in his grave. It’s a sad day when a veritable superpower is in the hands of an intolerant, misogynistic, hate-mongering Orange, with an absurd proclivity for building walls .
Imagine said Orange in a warped retelling of a scene from Red Riding Hood :
Red: What small hands you have
Orange: The better to grab your p**** with, my dear.
- The Puppet Master
“Dictators free themselves, but they enslave the people “– Charlie Chaplin
Credited with playing an important role in ensuring the casting of the Orange in the leading role, this Puppet Master knows exactly which strings to pull, be it to manoeuvre his minions into place, or to strangle and choke the voices of dissenters. The LGBTQ community and its supporters often have little chit-chat sessions with him over their right to exist, complete with tea and cake – the works.
- The Queen of Hearts
“Sometimes human places, create inhuman monsters. “ – Stephen King, The Shining
Ah, this one is my personal favourite. The male version of the Queen of Hearts from ‘Alice in Wonderland’. This Great Leader lays down rules for everything. After all, the people can’t be trusted to decide which haircut would look the best on them. They’re asked to decide from a list of specified hairstyles. The Supreme Leader also has his own personal harem. A ladies’ man, without a doubt. It must be great to have such an understanding wife. Every house, every school, every shop, basically anything with a wall ,must have a picture of his noble visage. narcissistic? How dare you?! Off with your head!
- The Babbar Sher
“The world is full of little dictators trying to run your life.” – Alan King
Little? Puh-lease! Our Babbar Sher has got a chhappan inch ki chhaati. Schwarzenegger, beware. We’ve got our very own action hero cum politico. He’s the Alpha (and the Omega). An ardent believer in the ‘Shove things down people’s throats’ policy, he follows it to the tee. Be it instilling a sense of patriotism or having his minions declare cows sacred, and thereby eliminating a cheap source of food for many people, this Lion has got it all sorted. Long live the Saffron Sher.
