The DEBSOC of the Army Institute of Law conducted the Intra institute debating championship 2022 on the motion “Smartphone Generation: Well Informed or Ill-Informed?” in Hindi and English. The Championship saw the enthusiastic participation of 12 teams across all years.
This was the first event that the College conducted after its reopening on the 21st of March. The event was judged by a panel of esteemed members from the Punjab and Haryana High Court and Literary Colleges. The event was convened by Sarthak Sharma (5th year) and Abhishek Ranjan (3rd year) who are also members of AIL DEBSOC. Mehula Vats (5th Year) and Mayank Sharma (5th Year) were adjudged winners of the championship. Nishant Tiwari (5th Year) and Vanshika Arora (1st Year) emerged as runners-up. Akshaja Singh (4th Year) was declared the best speaker.
The event would not have been an absolute success without an amazingly supportive audience, who cheered on the participants. Many valid points along the lines of the infosphere and social media in the times of Covid-19 were made. It was truly an enlightening event. It also gave the junior batches a chance to be able to showcase their debating skills and find an advantage over novice debaters from other colleges.
