The students and staff of the Army Institute of Law witnessed the Annual Sports Day of the college on 26th October, 2017. The previous two days had seen enthusiastic participation from all the five batches, namely, The Boss Babies (1st year), Nagar Palika Wale (2nd year), Satya Ke Aadmi (3rd year), The Silent Spartans (4th year) and Pushkin and Friends (5th year) in the fixture rounds. The qualifying teams were all gearing up for victory, while the event began at 7 am in the morning with the 100 meter, 200 meter and relay races for both men and women.
While all the participants ran with zeal and utmost strength, the first and second positions for women were taken by Pooja Kapoor (5th year) and Bhavna Harsha (1st year) respectively in the 100 meter races, Deeya Barik (3rd year) and Shweta Singh (5th year) in the 200 meter races, while the 5th year secured the 1st position in the relay races for women with the 1st year ending up at the second place. For the men, Shaurya Gulati (2nd year) won the 100 meter race, while Himmat Singh (5th year) came second. Aridaman Singh (5th year) secured the first place in the 200 meter race, and Shaurya Gulati (2nd year) came second. The relay races were won by 5th year, and the 3rd year ended up second.
The event was formally inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. Tejinder Kaur with the cutting of the ribbon. The inter batch final matches finally began, with every student enthusiastically cheering for his or her batch. The men’s volleyball was won by Pushkin & Friends after defeating Satya ke Aadmi in a tough competition.
The latter turned the tables in the volleyball match for women, securing the first position in the same, while the former came second. Next came the mighty Tug of War, a competition looked forward by all so that their physical might could be well established in front of the entire college. The female participants of the Boss Babies (BOSSES indeed) brought glory to the batch by winning the round against the 5th years in the competition for women, while that for the men was won by Pushkin & Friends, who proved to have a mightier hand than Satya Ke Aadmi. The table tennis match was won by the 3rd years against the 5th years. Pushkin & Friends yet again claimed victory against Satya Ke Aadmi in the Kho Kho match, the Football match for men, and the Basketball match for women, while the Silent Spartans owned the court as they defeated their immediate seniors in the Basketball match for men.
While the students were thus indulged in competing and winning against each other, the teaching and Administration staff was not neglected. A treasure hunt was conducted for the teachers, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The staff also displayed their aiming and guessing skills in games which required them to hit and take down glasses with a ball, and place the bindi accurately on the poster. Timely refreshments and catchy music kept the atmosphere lively and cheerful, while the students came together as a batch and urged the participants to put their best foot forward. The declaration of the next day being a no teaching day was met with excitement and great rounds of applause and hoots. Tired but contented, the spectators along with the participants retired for the day.
