On 27th July, 2017 Ms. Amol Kaur, who is associated with the Patiala based NGO Health and Awareness Suvidha Society (HASS)- supported by the MNC ‘AkzoNobel’ visited AIL and gave the students a lecture on Road Safety.
Through the medium of a presentation, an interactive session as well as several video clips, she was able to drive home the fact that the infrastructure of roads and public transport in India is in shambles.
She highlighted the leading causes of road accidents and urged the students to exercise caution and observe traffic rules. Traffic Police Constable Janak Raj Singh, Constable Ravneet Kaur and Gurinder Singh also interacted with the students and told them about various problems faced by traffic police personnel while performing their duties.
They also introduced the students to three new apps that have been created by the Punjab Police namely – PP Saanjh App, Shakti App and Know your police App – that can be easily downloaded from the Playstore. These Apps have been created in an effort to make police more accessible and efficient.
All in all, it was an informative session on road safety and was successful in creating awareness about the topic.
