On 19th September, the Thursday activity included an informative guest lecture and workshop by Mr. Siddharth Srivastava, Partner, Link Legal, ILS on “Decoding of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016”.
He commenced his speech by asking a few questions about insolvency and bankruptcy and engaging the audience and encouraging active participation in his lecture. He went to to explain why the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 came into being and made distinctions between the same and it’s foreign equivalents. He talked about the measures taken by the Reserve Bank of India to resolve insolvency. He enthusiastically entertained the questions put forth by the students from various years and also talked recent examples and cases regarding the same like that of the debate on home buyers position as creditors and JP Infratech. He concluded by mentioning a few important judgements pertaining to IBC and related statutory bodies.
It was indeed a knowledgeable and an informative workshop for the students aiming to step foot into the corporate field and an appreciable initiative undertaken by the Centre for Research in Corporate Law and Governance.
