The Thursday lecture on 27th October in the multipurpose hall was on legal awareness. It was delivered by Adv. Ritu Joshi from the Mohali district court complex, district legal services authority.
She talked about the efforts made by the district to provide justice and relief to the common population. The legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 was enacted to constitute legal services authorities for providing competent legal services to the weaker sections. She discussed how the people are still oblivious about the existence of the DLSA (District Legal Services Authority) and told the students how they can play a part in making the society aware about this provision of law. It was an interactive session with the students clearing all their doubts about the DLSA. From wanting to know about the sort of cases the court dealt with to finding out if they could intern with ma’am at the court. She also shared her experience about the work environment at the courts and warned us that it’ll be nothing like we imagine it to be.
The session was interactive and highly enlightening. It was a pleasure to be addressed by Adv. Ritu Joshi.
